DPDP penalty exposure calculator
Tick the gaps you have today and see which penalties in the Schedule they expose you to, item by item, with the section behind each one.
Your exposure
Tick the gaps that are true of you today. Each one you tick shows here, under the Schedule item it falls under, with that item's ceiling.
Applies from 13 May 2027How the Board sets a penalty
Every figure here is a ceiling, not a fine. The Board may impose a penalty only after an inquiry finds a breach significant, and only after hearing you (s. 33(1)). To set the amount, it weighs the factors in s. 33(2): the nature, gravity and duration of the breach; the type of personal data affected; whether the breach was repeated; any gain made or loss avoided; how quickly and how well you mitigated it; whether the penalty is proportionate and effective; and its likely impact on you.
The calculator does not add the ceilings together. The Act gives no combined figure, and the Board decides each breach on its own.
